Perceptual Reality provides meaningful, outcomes-based counselling services which support you in resolving emotional, psychological and relationship issues and empowers you to achieve what you want from your world.
Counselling can mean many things to many people. We like to think of it as the opportunity for you to talk to someone, in a safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment about the things that matter most to you. These may be problems you currently have or difficult thoughts/feelings that are preventing you from getting on with your life.
Most importantly, it is your opportunity to address these issues. You may wish to explore your thoughts, feelings and actions in more depth or you may wish to begin the process of changing those things that are preventing you from achieving what you want from your world.
A [not so] unique approach
To be effective, our counselling addresses a number of accepted principles:
- Perception and reality are often different
- It’s about change; often at a deep, personal or unconscious level (and you must want to change)
- It can be challenging and at times may feel uncomfortable
- Authenticity is about who you are
Our counsellors are quickly able to develop a trusting relationship with you to engage in honest and meaningful dialogue.
It’s about you
We know that it is sometimes difficult to find someone to talk to, even if you have a large family or group of friends. Feeling isolated when you are feeling anxious or depressed is not uncommon. Sometimes, talking to an impartial professional about personal issues is just easier. We know, because we’ve been there too.
Counselling is all about you. It is your journey to achieving your personal goals and is often both active and reflective. Counselling does not take place in a vacuum and is not a singular event.
The beginning is easy; you talk, we listen. Then, together we design the most appropriate and effective way forward to address your needs. That may include focussing on a number of areas such as:
- Thought, feelings and actions
- Relationship issues
- Employment or financial worries
- Self-esteem and confidence
- Disappointment with life
- Health and happiness
Counselling is often evolutionary; it adapts to your changing needs as you grow and develop.
We work with you to explore your beliefs, values, attitudes, perceptions, life choices, habits and barriers. We listen, encourage and challenge you to see things differently; to move from perception to reality. We help you to discover and access your unique talents, abilities, passions, desires and sense of purpose in order to achieve your goals.
We know what we are doing
Our counsellors have ‘lived experience’; some may have experienced similar issues to yours. Their empathy helps, as they can talk your language. Additionally they are professionally trained and very experienced, with an extensive range of methods that they can call upon to support you, including CBT and Transactional Analysis. Some have been Samaritans. In all cases, they are here to help you.
